OAK Prague Brooch Necklace - "Bacchus"

Classic yet bold and funky. A fantastic mix of both new and old. Named for Bacchus, ancient god of wine.

I found this lovely silver plated grape cluster brooch in an antique store in Prague, and held onto it for 2 years until the perfect chain came along to match it. A dainty watch fob chain with silver content. Not sterling (.925) but but antiques dealer who sold it to me said it was probably at least .725 or as high as .825. A beautiful, almost pewter coloured chain. The original fob clasp (marked Numium) is now used to dangle the brooch-turned-pendant. The other original, round clasp adds decorative interest and is non functioning. The necklace now closes with a hand made oxidized sterling silver hook and eye clasp, shown in the photos.

The original watch fob chain was not quite long enough, so I've added three decorative hexagonal links from new, nickel free silver plated chain. A perfect match of new and old!

The brooch itself measures just under 5cm (just under 2"), and the chain (including fob dangle) is 16" long.

The silver plating has come off a bit on the bottom leaves, revealing a lovely copper base. Please see photos for details.
