Classic Greco-Roman acanthus leaf earrings with verdigris
I was drawn to these vintage brass stampings because they reminded me of ancient architecture. I showed them to my (art degree) studio-mate and she promptly dubbed them "acanthus" leaves, which are indeed the hallmark symbol of classic Greco-Roman ornamentation.
Well, you learn something new every day!
I've added a lovely verdigris patina to the recesses of the stamping, polished them up, and drilled holes so they can hang from high quality 12k gold-filled ear wires. The verdigris patina is spray sealed with a clear matte finish for protection.
As you can see, they hang just over 2" long in total. These are some of my faces, and I wear them with everything from simple jeans and top, to a breezy summer dress.
